Updates on the outage
Well I can finally log in again after 30 hours of outage but my impression is that others still can't. Blizzard still haven't said anything on the status forums, if you still get disconnected after log in, let us know. |

Character transfers
Due to the overload of characters on some servers, Blizzard are allowing players on certain servers to move to pre-selected others. It's not like a pick your server type thing though it's your choice to move of course. Pretty cool if you are always stuck in ques. Currently it is only in the US but will be localised to EU soon. |

Revision of opinion on level 60 theory
Ever since someone on the EU servers made it to level 60 in 9 days the CassieNet team has been theorising about how they did it.
My original opinion was a group of five of them grouped together and quested solidly. Quests, especially elites will bring in plenty of experiance.
That said, I was playing tonight at level 38 and I had half a level of experiance at 200% (rested) due to absense. So I just grinded lesser water elementals.
The end result was that I got half way through my level in 1 and a half hours. So even without rest bonus that is still probably leveling in like 5 hours, faster than I was doing it with quests. So maybe grinding is the answer. |

The fun of the Horde raid
Today was raid day for my guild - we headed out to Menethil Harbor, got the boat of Dunwallow Marsh and ran through to the Barrens and finally onto Mulgore - what a day. Screenshots and details of what happened will follow. |

Guild halls
One issue that has come up recently is the idea of guild halls - we want them! The idea is that each guild has their own building. Due to size and such it would probably just be one building instanced for all guilds. But still very cool.
Some of the ideas we liked including having portals to each city to get into them (ie you can enter from any of the 3 major cities on your site), guild vaults to share money, weapons, etc and being able to decorate it with furnature and such.
There is no official backing behind this though if we discuss it enough, Blizzard may start working on it for a future patch ;). |
Mods for EU game
The problem with the US and EU game installs being different is that none of the mods work for EU players! Ok some do but I have 3 mods to stop the quests from fading in - and none of them work. Blizzard, can't you do something about this version mismatch crap? |

The new patch arrives
For those of you in North America the new patch has arrived - no doubt you have already discovered this. But to cover it's contents it basically had a new dungeon, Dire Maul, the long awaited meeting stones and a few other improvements. |

New official guides
WoW.com have published some new information guides in the way of tips pages - one on dungeons here.
It goes over the basics like clearing inventory space in your bags but one which I think people often miss is to repair your equipment before you go in, even if nothing is yellow yet. It may go over the edge while in the dungeon.
There is also a tips page for the auctiom house, check that out here. |

New patch arrives for the EU
We are busy downloading it now - 60 MB worth. The patch resulted in the servers going offline too hours early this morning , most weren't back online by schedule, about half were online by 12 CET. |

The patch notes
After spending like an hour reading through them, I wrote up a post about the changes - the system lost them :(. So here is attempt two.
To cover random points: mages have a new spell called mage armour with regenerates manor (level 32 or 34). Monsters no wait a few seconds before attacking you when they respawn.
Chat bubbles are cool as is being able to place action bars randomly around the screen. Also tab targetting is now better as before it could only target people to your left. It still seems to have this problem a little though.
The most important thing however is the new /golfclap :). |
Bugs and problems
There has already been a bug found in the new patch that caused server problems. From what we here Blizzard have corrected it now though.
Also the billing problems for Switch cards still appear to be plaguing people :(. |

Free subscription time
Rumour has it that due to the content patch problems, Blizzard are giving everyone 2 days free play time. We're not sure if this is everyone or just North America or what though yet. |

Confirmation on the free days
So we checked it out a bit and yep, European players get 2 free days due to the problems with the patch too. |
| Wednesday, March 30 2005 |
Another free day
If you are on any of the following realms:
Alleria, Argent Dawn, Arthas, Azgalor, Blackhand, Bleeding Hollow, Bloodhoof, Durotan, Elune, Garona, Hellscream, Illidan, Lothar, Magtheridon, Mannoroth, Medivh, Sargeras, Shattered Hand, Skullcrusher, Stormrage, Stormreaver, Warsong, Whisperwind, Zul'jin
...you will get a free day due to the downtime. Plus full rested bonus even if you aren't in an inn! |

Warbucks
This is cool - when you kill someone on the PvP honor system you can loot their body for warbucks which can be used in inns to buy coffee and stuff. It is only available for European players which is cool for us, sucks for everyone else ;). |

World of Wordcraft
The fact that this was published April 1st is no coincidence for those who haven't twigged ;). But Microsoft have unveiled World of Wordcraft a massive multiplayer word processor game. Check it out here. |

Is WoW a temperory success?
Everyone is talking about what was posted on Grimwell Online - that WoW will soon be in decline. Geldon says that WoW lacks a long term social component.
You can find the full post here. You can also find news stories about it here, here and here.
I love WoW! But to be honest, I agree. I think it is a common problem for all of the current MMORPGs. I think only when we get 3rd generation MMORPGs that the problem will be solved. |

What the future will bring
Blizzard have updated their under development page - new features on the horizon include a new raid dungeon, PvP Battlegrounds (can't wait!) and hero classes. Check the page out here.
As a foot note, on the horizon is just a saying I know Blizzard divide their features into upcoming and on the horizon but I don't ;). |

Test servers live
For those of you in North America you can copy your characters to the test servers running the new patch so you get all the cool new content. That said they are testing servers so there are always downsides. Still cool though. |

Kate Bevan, FT.com
To be honest, of all the places we expected articles about WoW, the Financial Times was not high on the list. But there is one and it is quite entertaining. You can read it here. |

Game Cards
Blizzard have put out an official list of retailers where you can pick up pre-paid game cards. According to the list the only place selling them in the UK is Game which sucks. I would have thought at least Gamestation would have them. Anyway check the list out here. |

New MP3
Blizzard have released a new MP3 named Lordaeron Fall - you can download it from download.blizzard.com here. |
