| So you've come to Goldshire |
You are a human newbie. If not they stop reading now. Of course I am just kidding there; you should never stop reading anything I write. But if you actually aren’t good for you for going for something other than the really generic (if you an orc then your actually no better ;).
But yeah, imagine if you’re a human newbie. You have been playing around in the newbie areas. You’ve been down the first mine, killed monsters that don’t care you were there or not and maybe even been killed when you foolishly went to fight defies by yourself at level two. It’s all part of the learning curve.
You’ve got through that, you have some shiny equipment from the people in the starting zone and you pack your bags and head to the local inn in Goldshire. From here there are endless possibilities. Well not endless as I plan to talk you through most of them.
First things first
Pick up all the local quests. You can never have too many questions because you have a limit of 20 and too many is like 400. That’s my personal opinion though. Pick them up and you are ready to go.
There are basically two quest areas which I am going to talk you through. These are the two places which will take you through the 5-6 levels or so as you build up, probably higher before you head off east.
While we are in Goldshire there is plenty of stuff to do. There are plenty of trainers and because they are so close to quests it is easy to check in with them every two levels. The inn has an upstairs and a basement (accessed at the back of the kitchen) plus there are trainers for you warrior types elsewhere in Goldshire.
There are also traders at the bottom of Goldshire when you can stock up on a lot of crap you need for trading, etc. It has a decent range of things so pop by and see if there is anything you need. Providing you have some money of course, if not you soon will do.
Fargodeep Mine
I love this place – those crazy kobolds drop linen and as a tailor in my first life I spent quite a bit of time hunting there before moving to bigger and better things. Be careful here though, if there are a lot of people those bastards will spawn right on top of you.
Another cool thing to do here is to come back when you are a high level and get millions of them chasing you :D. But for the moment, you need to collect candles, something else (haven’t been there for a while but you will see in the quest when you pick it up :P) and to explore the mine.
The strategy depends on what you want to do. If you want to just do minimal exploring (just walk down the mine into the main cavern and it will tell you, you have explored it enough) and then hunt outside then you can solo.
If you want to go deep into the mine then you are best going with a group as they can all re-spawn once you have gotten inside and then you have to fight your way out again. You will also need a group to go kill Goldtooth (at least without levelling a bit) but you need to go to the Stonefield Farm to get that quest.
Seen as I have covered all the quests in the mine I will move on though. With a quick mention of Goldtooth, he is normally hanging around closer to the top entrance than the bottom, just run around killing stuff until you find him, best way ;).
Stonefield Farm
Here is the second place you will want to go when you are in the mid level range. You can pick up several quests here. One is about Princess which is a big boar east. Pick this up before you go east if you can to save you trailing back and forth.
Secondly there is the stolen neckless quest which will send you trailing back and forth between the Stonefield Farm and the MacClure Farm and will eventually reach a point where you are sent to kill Goldtooth.
From here on out
There is a lot more to do in Elwynn Forest, you can go south towards Westfall and kill Hogger, you can go east to the logging camp and defias hold-out but that pretty much covers the fun around Goldshire. Of course you can always take it easy and do a bit of fishing. Just watch out for murlocs! |
