| Stormwind to Darnassus |
Ok so picture this situation. In fact if you are reading this you could well be in this situation. You are a human and your friend is a night elf. You start at opposite corners of the map. Problem if you want to meet up isn't it?
So here is my guide. Personally I recommend the night elf comes to Stormwind as I like the area more although I am probably biased considering I started as a human. If can be reverse engineered anyway, I'm just doing it Stormwind to Darnassus because that is how I did it.
I did this at level 11 and still died. Therefore just go for it and expect to die. You are going to be outrunning the monsters anyway, the things that will be attacking you will kick your ass at any level below 20 and you want to meet up well before then.
A little advice I would give about a strategy you might want to consider is to put everything that has a durability rating in the bank first. This is because if you die and you are further on with your route you can resurrect in the graveyard without damaging your stuff. You don't need it as you have no chance of defeating the monsters anyway; it is only good for providing protection as you flee like a coward ;).
Beginning the journey
So first up, head from wherever you are into Stormwind. Go down the main street then left at the signpost and go through to the canals towards the old town and across the bridge (don't actually go into the old down). Then go round the corner and across the next bridge into the Dwarven Quarter.
Wander around here for a while until you see a giant round bolt shaped thing - that is the Deeprun Tram. Head down there and wait at the station until the train comes. Get on one of the carriages and let it take you to Ironforge. Once there get off the train and head out of the tram system.
You will then be in Tinker Town in Ironforge. Turn left and head down the corridor to reach the warrior place and continue round into the commons. Eventually a giant hole will open up in the wall on the right - these are the gates to Ironforge.
Out of Ironforge
Leave though the giant gates and head down the slope to the bottom. There should be a sign post. Head left here (going east) towards Loch Moran (although ignore my spelling ;) and continue down the track following the sign posts.
The last one you will get to leads you off on a more beaten track. You can actually go the other way and that takes you to the north gate pass. But I went south and through the south gate pass (down the beaten track) and emerged in the Valley of the Kings. If you take this route just head north up the track past the town on your left.
Once you reach the top just continue heading north and you will end up going through a series of tunnels through the mountains or so it will appear on your mini map. This is the wetlands and it is a level 20-30 zone with aggressive monsters so prepare for some ass kicking.
Follow the path north as this leads you round the mountains. You will eventually pass the graveyard and head west on the path. From here on there are more creatures to attack you although I managed to just survive two of the attacks by running past. That was at level 11 though, it's no big deal if you die, just head back to your body and keep on running.
Menethil Harbor
Finally you reach Menethil Bay. Continue round to the right once in the town and you will see a dock - this is Menethil Harbor. If you stand looking out to sea there will be two piers, one on your left (the south one) and one on your right (the north one). You should also get the flight routes will you are here by talking to the bird master guy.
Anyway you want the north route. Boats here have been taken off some servers but you can get someone to teleport you direct to Auberdine. It depends on what sever you are on as to which is available, Blizzard had to replace the boats on some but kept them on, on others.
Once you are there you will arrive in Auberdine or at least the pier at Auberdine. Once you are facing the right direction head straight forward, skipping over the crossroads that lead each way to the end of the other pier opposite where you started. Wait for the boat here then jump on when it arrives.
Teldrassil
Once you are at Rut'Theran, you can either run it along the road to Darnassus although a much easier way is to head straight forward when you get off the boat to the big purple thing - this is a portal that takes you direct to Darnassus. This saves a lot of effort although it is only a 1-10 zone.
So using this guide you should be able to make it, with a few deaths perhaps. If you dumped your stuff, there is a bank in Darnassus so you can pick it all up from there. The important thing is to get the flight paths at Menethil Bay and Ironforge so you can fly in future. Happy travels! |
