| Primer for human tailors |
Tailing is cool because you can make bags. Other stuff too, but mainly bags ;). Actually that is just my obsession with bags but tailoring is a good profession to get into if you wear cloth armor and also have a weird obsession with bags.
It isn't the easiest of professions to level up though. Well I have only tried this and skinning but skinning is easier because you can skin almost anything. Tailoring requires a lot of linen so you have to spend quite some time gathering it all.
Techniques
If you want to make stuff for yourself then that is great, that is what it is about a lot of the time. But if you want to level up then pick your recipes wisely. You want to do ones highlighted in orange as these will definitely give you a skill point. Yellow ones probably will, green ones are unlikely to and grey ones mean no chance.
The most critical thing though is how much linen each recipe uses when it comes to leveling. Thread is easy to get hold of as you can buy it from venders. It is 10 bronze a time so nice and cheap. Bolts of linen however need to be made from two bits of linen which is a hassle to gather.
Therefore my advice is to use the recipes that require the least bolts of linen (or whatever bolts you are using) to level grind.
Profession locations
Stormwind is the place to go when you want to learn tailoring. If you head into the trade district then go left into the mage quarter you want to go left and into the first shop on the right. This is the tailoring shop.
The woman behind the counter will sell you everything you need in turns of reagents (recipe items) but more importantly the guy stud in the right hand side of the shop is the tailoring trainer who will first teach you.
Also, if you are in need of course thread for a recipe, the general supplies trader with the cart in Goldshire can supply you with what you need. He also carries a few other items that are useful for some recipes.
Gathering locations
Humanoid creatures drop linen so if you are level 4-6 you are best heading off to my favorite haunt - the Fardeep Mines. If you leave Goldshire by going right when facing the trade cart from the center of the village then leave the road at the second bend. It is just north of the Stonefield farms.
Also once you are a higher level you might consider the defias camp which can be found south of the logging camp. Basically you head west from Goldshire past Azura's tower and you will reach a guarded bridge. Head south just before there.
If you have plenty of money and no time then it might be worth trying to buy it off other players. Send out a message over the general channel ("/1 message" usually) saying that you are interested in buying linen. People may have picked it up while fighting.
Conclusion
Just one more thing I would add - it could well be worth making new items when your old items loose their durability. It is probably cheaper to but the reagents and make new items then it is to have them repaired. |
